Discontinuation of Free
Microsoft 365 Licenses
Effective July 1, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue the free Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grants for nonprofit organisations.
These grants will not renew after your next renewal date following July 1, 2025.
End of Support for
Windows 10
Windows 10 will reach its end of support on October 14, 2025.
After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or technical support, posing potential security risks.
What This Means for You
License Expiration:
Your free Microsoft 365 licenses will expire at your next renewal after July 1, 2025.
Security Risks:
While Microsoft 365 apps operating on Windows 10 will continue to work and receive security updates until 2028, they will no longer receive new features after 2026.
Running Microsoft 365 on an unsupported operating system increases security and reliability risks, which is why upgrading to Windows 11 is strongly recommended.
Loss of Access:
You may lose access to essential tools like Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams if no action is taken.
What You Can Do now
Audit Your Licenses
Identify who truly needs desktop apps. Review current user needs and adjust licenses accordingly.
Upgrade to Windows 11
Ensure compatibility and security by upgrading to Windows 11. Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool to verify device compatibility.
Transition to Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Consider transitioning to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, which offers free licenses for up to 300 users. Provides essential cloud services like Teams, Exchange, and OneDrive.
Consider Microsoft 365
Business Standard
For users who need full desktop apps, consider upgrading to Microsoft 365 Business Standard. Includes desktop versions of Office apps along with cloud services.

STEP 1: Log into your Microsoft 365 Admin Center at https://admin.microsoft.com/
STEP 2: Navigate to the “Billing” section and select “Licenses.”
STEP 3: Review the list of assigned licenses to determine your current plan.
